TB-500 is a catalogue name applied to a synthetic peptide related to thymosin beta-4, an actin-binding protein found in most mammalian cells. Suppliers do not use the label consistently: some describe it as the full 43-residue protein, others as a short fragment from the actin-binding region, and others as a related tetrapeptide. Because the name is commercial rather than chemical, two products sold under it may not contain the same molecule. This naming ambiguity is the first point to check in any description of the material.
The most frequently cited identity is a seven-residue fragment with the sequence LKKTETQ, taken from the actin-binding domain of the parent protein. A separate molecule, N-acetyl-seryl-aspartyl-lysyl-proline, often shortened to Ac-SDKP, derives from the same protein's N-terminal region and appears in overlapping literature. Reported molecular masses therefore differ between sources, and a mass value on its own does not establish which fragment is present. Confirmation requires a defined sequence rather than a single number.
Research interest in thymosin beta-4 fragments centres on actin sequestration, cell migration and tissue repair models. Most published work uses cultured cells or animal wound and cardiac preparations, and findings are generally described as preliminary. No fragment of this protein has been approved as a therapeutic product by major regulators. Reviews of the field note inconsistent dosing, delivery routes and outcome measures across studies, which complicates direct comparison. The material is best understood as a laboratory reagent with an active but unresolved research literature.
Detection in biological matrices generally relies on liquid chromatography coupled with tandem mass spectrometry, because the peptide lacks a convenient ultraviolet chromophore beyond the amide backbone. Immunoassays have been described, but antibodies raised against the fragment can cross-react with the full-length protein or with unrelated peptides, so findings usually require confirmation by a second technique. Sample preparation typically involves protein precipitation followed by solid-phase extraction. Reported detection windows depend on dose, route, matrix, and instrument sensitivity.
Lyophilised material is stable for extended periods when kept dry and cold, and suppliers typically recommend storage well below freezing. Once dissolved, the peptide is handled at refrigeration temperatures and used within a short period, because peptide bonds and the acetylated terminus can be affected by repeated freeze-thaw cycles, proteases, or extreme pH. Bacteriostatic water and saline are both described as solvents, although preservatives can interfere with some analytical workflows. Reconstituted solutions are inspected for particulates before use.
Sports authorities classify the peptide as a prohibited substance, and it appears on the World Anti-Doping Agency list under peptide hormones, growth factors, and related substances. Racing jurisdictions for horses and dogs have issued separate restrictions, and several national bodies treat it as a controlled or prescription-only item. As a research chemical it is sold without a therapeutic indication, and labels usually state that the product is not for human or veterinary use. Regulatory treatment therefore varies by country.

Biological interest in this peptide centers on its relationship to actin dynamics. Thymosin beta-4 binds monomeric actin through an LKKTET motif, and a short sequence carrying that motif can compete with other actin-binding proteins in cell-free preparations. Investigators propose that such competition shifts the balance between filament assembly and disassembly, which in turn affects how readily a cell extends protrusions and migrates. Most of the supporting observations come from cultured cells and purified protein systems rather than from intact organisms.
Animal work has examined the peptide in models of cardiac injury, skin wounding, and corneal repair, with reported outcomes covering cell migration, inflammatory cell influx, and tissue remodeling. Several of those experiments used the full-length protein or longer fragments instead of the seven-residue sequence, which makes direct comparison between reports difficult. Results are generally described as tissue-dependent, and effect sizes vary considerably across laboratories. Independent replication is uneven, so the overall picture is incomplete rather than settled.
Identity and purity are checked with chromatographic and mass spectrometric methods. Reverse-phase high-performance liquid chromatography separates the peptide from related impurities, while mass spectrometry confirms the expected molecular mass. A certificate of analysis may report a purity percentage, but the laboratory should still verify the material independently. Common quality concerns include truncated sequences, deamidation, oxidation, and residual solvents from synthesis. Because TB-500 is short, some impurities can differ from the target by only a few mass units.
Reconstitution practices affect downstream measurements. The dry powder is typically dissolved in sterile water or a suitable aqueous buffer, then mixed gently rather than vortexed at high speed. Visible particles or cloudiness suggest incomplete dissolution or contamination and should be investigated. For long-term storage, aliquots should be labeled with concentration, solvent, and date. Open questions include how different buffers alter peptide conformation and whether specific container materials adsorb the peptide. Those variables can change apparent concentration in assays even when the chemical identity is correct.
==== Long-term antiviral immunity ==== After viral infection in rodents, type I IFNs promote SeV clearance and speed up the migration and maturation of dendritic cells. However, soon after viral infection, animals efficiently generate cytotoxic T cells independently of type I IFN signaling and clear the virus from their lungs. Moreover, even the animals that are unresponsive to type I IFN develop long-term anti-SeV immunity in a form of memory response that includes generation of CD8+ T cells and neutralizing antibodies. This memory response can protect animals against further challenge with a lethal dose of virus.
Posters used by the women at Greenham Common Women's Peace Camp often featured the symbol of a spider web, meant to symbolise the fragility as well as the perseverance of the protesters. The Quran uses the fragility of the spider's web as a parable, comparing it to the faith of idolators.
=== Chipper chains === The chipper chain is similar to the semi-chisel chain. The key differences between are the size of the radius at the working corner. In cross-section a chipper tooth looks like a question mark, having a full radius over the whole cutting portion of the tooth, whereas a semi chisel design is more like a number "7" with the top-right corner slightly rounded.

== Management of intoxication == Management of PCP intoxication mostly consists of supportive care – controlling breathing, circulation, and body temperature – and, in the early stages, treating psychiatric symptoms. Benzodiazepines, such as lorazepam, are the drugs of choice to control agitation and seizures (when present). Typical antipsychotics such as phenothiazines and haloperidol have been used to control psychotic symptoms, but may produce many undesirable side effects – such as dystonia – and their use is therefore no longer preferred; phenothiazines are particularly risky, as they may lower the seizure threshold, worsen hyperthermia, and boost the anticholinergic effects of PCP. If an antipsychotic is given, intramuscular haloperidol has been recommended. Forced acid diuresis (with ammonium chloride or, more safely, ascorbic acid) may increase the clearance of PCP from the body, and was somewhat controversially recommended in the past as a decontamination measure. However, it is now known that only around 10% of a dose of PCP is removed by the kidneys, which would make increased urinary clearance of little consequence; furthermore, urinary acidification is dangerous, as it may induce acidosis and worsen rhabdomyolysis (muscle breakdown), a not-unusual manifestation of PCP toxicity.
Because prokaryotic mRNA does not need to be processed or transported, translation by the ribosome can begin immediately after the end of transcription. Therefore, it can be said that prokaryotic translation is coupled to transcription and occurs co-transcriptionally. In eukaryotic cells the process of translation starts with the information stored in the nucleotide sequence of DNA. This is first transformed into mRNA, then transfer RNA (tRNA) specifies which three-nucleotide codon from the genetic code corresponds to which amino acid. Eukaryotic mRNA that has been processed and transported to the cytoplasm (i.e., mature mRNA) can then be translated by ribosomes. Translation may occur at ribosomes free in the cytoplasm, or targeted to the endoplasmic reticulum by the signal recognition particle. Therefore, unlike in prokaryotes, eukaryotic translation is not directly coupled to transcription. In some contexts, protein abundance can increase even when mRNA abundance decreases, because translation efficiency and protein turnover are regulated independently of transcript levels; this has been reported for mRNA and protein levels of EEF1A1 in breast cancer.

== Medical uses == Somapacitan is indicated for replacement of endogenous growth hormone in adults with growth hormone deficiency (GHD). GHD is a condition when the body doesn't produce enough growth hormone on its own. Growth hormone regulates many functions in the body including accumulation of fat in the trunk or central area of the body that can be associated with serious medical issues.
The practice of drying starchy root vegetables for preservation and portability is widely attested around the world, and likely dates back to before the advent of agriculture. Potatoes in particular have been freeze dried since at least the time of the Inca Empire, in the form of chuño; another example is in Japanese Ainu cuisine, where potatoes are collected frozen from the ground in spring, then dried. U.S. Patent 1025373, developed by Ernest William Cooke, titled "Dehydrate Potatoes and Process of Preparing the Same", and describing a product that was to be reconstituted in hot water, was applied for in 1905 and granted in 1912. Flake-form instant mashed potatoes date back at least to 1954, when two United States Department of Agriculture researchers were issued a patent for "Drum drying of cooked mashed potatoes" (U.S. Patent 2,759,832), which describes the end product specifically being "as a thin sheet or flake". In 1962, Canadian scientist Edward A. Asselbergs was issued U.S. Patent 3,260,607, entitled "Preparation of dehydrated cooked mashed potato", for a particular industrial method of producing the product.
==== Quantum dot with nanowire in solar cells ==== Another potential use involves capped single-crystal ZnO nanowires with CdSe quantum dots, immersed in mercaptopropionic acid as hole transport medium in order to obtain a QD-sensitized solar cell. The morphology of the nanowires allowed the electrons to have a direct pathway to the photoanode. This form of solar cell exhibits 50–60% internal quantum efficiencies. Nanowires with quantum dot coatings on silicon nanowires (SiNW) and carbon quantum dots. The use of SiNWs instead of planar silicon enhances the antiflection properties of Si. The SiNW exhibits a light-trapping effect due to light trapping in the SiNW. This use of SiNWs in conjunction with carbon quantum dots resulted in a solar cell that reached 9.10% PCE. Graphene quantum dots have also been blended with organic electronic materials to improve efficiency and lower cost in photovoltaic devices and organic light emitting diodes (OLEDs) compared to graphene sheets. These graphene quantum dots were functionalized with organic ligands that experience photoluminescence from UV–visible absorption.
== Arab counter-proposal == On 21 February, the Arab leaders of Egypt, Jordan, Qatar, UAE, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, and Bahrain met in Saudi Arabia to discuss the future of Gaza. Their goal was to be a "united front" and provide an alternative to Trump's plan. Ibrahim Dalalsha, director of a political research group in West Bank, said the process would be complex and that the greatest obstacle for the Arab leaders is to introduce a plan that is realistic and can be enforced on the Palestinian factions, while at the same time being a plan that the US and Israel could accept. Arab leaders planned to meet for a broader summit on 4 March in Cairo to find a plan for Gaza before their diplomats travel to Washington D.C. "within weeks" to meet with President Trump to present their counter plan.

TB-500 is a trade-style label for a synthetic peptide connected to thymosin beta-4. It is sold mainly through research-chemical channels and is not a single chemically defined product across suppliers.
Not necessarily. Some vendors use the name for the full 43-residue protein, while others apply it to a short actin-binding fragment or to a related tetrapeptide. The sequence should be confirmed from documentation rather than assumed from the label.
No thymosin beta-4 fragment holds marketing approval as a medicine in major jurisdictions. Material offered for sale is typically labelled for laboratory research only.
The most common approach is liquid chromatography with tandem mass spectrometry after extraction from blood or urine. Immunoassays exist but are generally treated as screening tools because of cross-reactivity.
